Indonesia
is central along ancient trading routes between the Far East and the
Middle East, resulting in many cultural practices being
strongly influenced by a multitude of religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism,
Confucianism and Islam, all strong in the major trading cities. The result is a
complex cultural mixture very different from the original indigenous cultures.
Indonesian culture has been
shaped by long interaction between original indigenous customs and multiple
foreign influences.
In
Indonesia,
you'll encounter a festival almost every day, celebrating the cycle of birth,
death and rebirth. Such as anthropologists believe that the Balinese are
descended from the ancient Chinese, the Indians and Arabs from the west, and
others who came to the island directly or via Java and in Bali there are
over 20,000 temples which most villages should have at least three and every
temple holds an ODALAN (temple festival) once every 210 days. Many of Balinese
Temples have stories to tell which are of interest to people of all faiths.
Dance is the medium which stories have been told in for
generations, the costumes are as elaborate as the moves - some of which take
much training and agility to perfect. You can watch many of the traditional
dances which are performed several times weekly.
Such a rich history gives rise to historical artifacts which
need to be housed properly;
Indonesia
has numerous museums which are open to the public to gain a greater insight to
the past.

Golf is a sport that is mainly
played outdoors. It has a series of 9 or 18 holes that are far apart from one
another. It is a relatively easy sport yet it can still sometimes be difficult
to play for some. Find out how it can easy and fun for all.
Indonesian golf courses appeal to every caliber of player from
beginner / recreational to amateur to professional players. Not only the quality
of the courses, but the spectacular settings in which many of the courses are
located is increasingly attracting the golfers from around the world.
Golf courses can be found in and near major cities throughout the
archipelago. In recent years, many world-class golf courses have been developed
in incomparable settings - located on the shores of picturesque lakes, inside a
volcanic crater, on ocean cliffs, surrounded by lush tropical rain forest, on
mountain sides, amidst rice paddies, and in valleys with a panoramic view of
mountains surrounding the course.
Golf is special in
Indonesia
because:
Courses are very scenic, well
maintained, manicured courses, lots of flowers and are usually not crowded
except on Saturday mornings.
Playing golf is very
affordable, so you get your money's worth
The abundance of caddies
makes all the difference because you don't have to carry your own bag!
It's tough enough to walk for 4-4.5 hours without carrying those heavy
clubs. Good service is received from caddies.
Courses include international
standard club houses with amenities such as international restaurants,
bars, showers and locker rooms, Jacuzzi, massage and even manicure and
pedicure services.
Problems encountered when playing golf in
Indonesia include:
Kids on courses selling used
golf balls they retrieve from us duffers. Sometimes they even find our
balls in the rough for sale back to us. Not good! This is a nuisance;
however, some courses do not allow it or they have it organized so that it
is not a problem.
Some courses are very crowded
on Saturday mornings. You should be aware that it could take up 5.5 hrs to
play 18 holes on those busy days.
Some courses are walking
courses; some are cart courses. People who cannot handle walking distances
in the tropical heat and high humidity should use the cart courses.
Heat stroke is a real
possibility, so drink lots of liquids out on the course, and don't forget
your sunscreen.
Vijaya Tour will arrange your golf reservations for tee off time,
arrange air-conditioned transport from your hotel to and from the course,
provide club rental if required and all at good price.
With over 17,000 islands and a collection of glorious beaches, pristine
lakes and rushing rivers unmatched anywhere in the world,
Indonesia is
the perfect place to take a splash and embrace some exciting water sports.
From hopping on a banana boat in Bali to white
water rafting down the rapids of the Alas River
in Sumatra to relaxing on the luxurious beach resort on Umang
Island, there is no shortage of activities for water enthusiasts.
The crystal clear waters and brilliant sunshine make this an ideal place to
try some new and exhilarating activities.
Indonesia
is one of the most reliable countries for finding surf to meet your specific
needs. It is considered that the months between March and September are the
best if you are looking for bigger waves. During this period you can find large
waves if that is what you are looking for, but if you are looking for a quieter
less crowded period December till February is a good for surfers who are
looking for waves of lesser intensity.
You can find a wide variety of boats to suit your needs.
It's best to bring everything that you that you think you may need because
tackle and surf shops are not so easy to find outside the major cities, and it
is best to bring spares and other maintenance gear.
The fishing is great, with a wide variety of fish to be
caught, too many to mention here! Reminder: as mentioned earlier, it's best to
bring everything that you that you think you may need including sufficient
spares. We have malaria on some of the islands so you should take precautions
against it (see your doctor before you leave home). Even so it is best to avoid
getting bitten so also bring some mosquito repellant.
Of course it is at your discretion that with the warm waters it is possible
swim without a wetsuit, but it is best to wear something to protect you from
the sun. The sharp coral also requires some kind of footwear. Helmets are also
recommended, as well as waterproof SPF of 15 or higher sunscreen.
Diving adventure with its warm water, extensive coral reefs,
abundant marine life, and any type of tropical fishes, diving in
Indonesia
offers some superb diving possibilities:
All the exciting and fun seawater activities with great
challenge for everyone who joins this sport. It offers variety of marine post
activities from motorize until the manual one, such as:
